Swiss Ball in your office
Using a Swiss Ball as an office seat encourages good back posture. Unlike a chair a Swiss Ball is unstable, when sitting on it you have to constantly adjust your balance. Abdominal and back muscles are constantly engaged and active in order to maintain proper posture and balance on the ball. Sitting on a Swiss Ball recruits more smaller muscles. These muscles help to keep the spine up and strong; the more we recruit those muscles the better it is for our spine and our posture.
With a Swiss Ball there is no back support and thus nothing to lean against to. There is less chance to get into this “slack” position which could be harmful for our back. Sitting on a Swiss Ball, our body is constantly making small adjustments. It is "active sitting" rather than the poor posture we can develop in chairs.
During Wellness Week there is the opportunity to try out Swiss Balls in your office for a day or learn how to use the Swiss Ball in your office with Vonita White - book your session here.
